With the holiday rush arriving, its easy to get caught up in the shopping craze at the malls, long lines with impatient buyers, parking wars and cold temperatures you can't even think straight. Through it all, I don't want to forget the true meaning behind Christmas and what matters the most and I hope you remember too.

Don't forget the small things, a warm smile, a heart felt hand written card (yes I said handwritten), giving with no strings attached and loving as if it was your last day. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, lets make it a December to remember.

Today I went and did my normal textile ordering while in search for new and even more luxurious fabrics. Throughout this year I've gained such a greater love for fabrics, from the style, look and feel. I've been asking myself can I bring the textiles to another level of luxury while keeping the clothing price conscious? If there's a will I will hope to find way and I am so excited to bring another level of sophistication of textiles to lamixx. I have an even greater appreciation for luxurious well made fabrics and cannot wait to share them with you. As I design for the upcoming collections I will be sure to bring a new element to make the blend of luxurious fabrics, minimal refined style along with keeping the core of affordable women's wear.

My friend Barron recently asked, “If you could be anywhere right now, doing anything you want, where would you be? And what would you be doing?”

And my answer was, “I’m always where I want to be, doing what I want to be doing.”

I’ve notice that in the past, like many people, I was always wishing I was doing something different, thinking about what I would do in the future, making plans for my life to come, reading (with jealousy) about cool things other people were doing.

It’s a fool’s game.

Many of us do this, but if you get into the mindset of thinking about what you *could* be doing, you’ll never be happy doing what you actually *are* doing. You’ll compare what you’re doing with what other people (on Facebook and Twitter, perhaps?) are doing. You’ll wish your life were better. You’ll never be satisfied, because there’s *always* something better to do.

Instead, I’ve adopted the mindset that whatever I’m doing right now is perfect. If I’m writing a post, that’s amazing. If I’m reading blog posts on the Internet, that’s interesting. If I’m doing nothing but hanging out with my family, that’s incredible. If I’m walking outside, enjoying the fresh air, that’s beautiful.

There’s nothing I’m ever doing that isn’t the most incredible thing on Earth. If I’m doing something sucky (I can’t remember doing that recently), maybe that’s an invaluable life lesson. If I’m with someone boring or obnoxious, it’s a lesson in patience, or empathy, or in learning to understand people better.

The Now Mindset, In Practice

Let’s say you’re washing the dishes. Wouldn’t you rather be having a delicious meal instead, or talking with your best friend? Sure, those things are great, but they’re only better if you believe they’re better, and more importantly, the comparison is totally unnecessary. Why should you compare what you’re doing now (washing dishes) with anything else? Wouldn’t almost anything lose out if you compare it to something you like more? Will you ever be happy with what you’re doing if you always compare it with something you like more?

Washing dishes can be as great as anything else, if you decide to see it that way. You’re in solitude, which is a beautiful thing. If you do it mindfully, washing dishes can be pleasant as you feel the suds and water in your hands, pay attention to the dish and its texture, notice your breathing and thoughts. It’s meditation, it’s quiet, it’s lovely.

You can say the same of anything. Driving to work? Enjoy the solitude, the chance to be alone with your thoughts, or to listen to music you love, to see the world around you. In a meeting with co-workers? Pay attention to how people talk and interact, learn about the human mind, see yourself in everyone around you, learn to love anyone no matter who they are, practice giving up expectations of who people should be or what this meeting should be like.

I’m always happy with what I’m doing, because I don’t compare it to anything else, and instead pay close attention to the activity itself. I’m always happy with whoever I’m with, because I learn to see the perfection in every person. I’m always happy with where I am, because there’s no place on Earth that’s not a miracle.

Life will suck if you are always wishing you’re doing something else. Life will rock if you realize you’re already doing the best thing ever.

When you’re done, flip it back up, and wrap random sections around a big curling iron. Be sure to alternate directions—less uniform curls look more modern. Do some gentle teasing at the crown for height, then grab a chunk of hair on each side. Pull the pieces back, and gently push upward before you pin the hair into place. To answer the age old question.. What do men want women to wear? Or what would make a man look twice. I did some research just for my blogger community.. I even did some asking around to men collages, friends and acquaintances. No scientific research but just honest conversation.

I love weekend getaways. Since I live in the Los Angeles/ Orange County area my weekend getaways are usually the calm and beautiful San Diego, the city that never sleeps Las Vegas, or the laid back Santa Barbara and oh ya if I can add another day to the getaway you know I will be in San Francisco.

When packing for the weekend getaway I like to keep the luggage light. The reason? But when there is competition, there are also competitive prices. That makes independent businesses the backbone of capitalism. And just as in nature diversity means there is a species for each niche, businesses can start to find their own niches – which means better products for everyone.

- Invest in future generations. So many wealthy families earned their money because a parent or grandparent owned their own business, worked grueling hours, and fought to become a mainstay in the American economy. If independently owned businesses go the way of the dodo and tasmanian wolf, who will become the leaders and investors for our children and grandchildren? International corporations say that they create jobs, but they also create a vicious cycle of the working poor who can never afford to educate their children.

After attending Istututo Marangoni in Milan, Italy (where her first job was at the Alexander McQueen showroom), she moved to NYC where she worked for 4 years as an Account Executive casting for NY Fashion Week with Trew Productions. She has also done model casting for the Sex & the City film and has dabbled in styling for editorial work. In her free time, she worked on test shoots for Supreme Models, and has spoken at FIT's Continuing Education Program about the casting industry.

She has also worked at Alexander Wang corporate where she first developed the internship program, then as Sales Coordinator working with clients such as Barneys NY, Opening Ceremony, and Net-a-Porter.

New years resolutions 2011

As we prepare our outfits and party's for the NYE, its often a good time to reflect on any change or new dreams for 2011. I try not to make to many resolutions but to live each day to the fullest... fortunately this is always a good time to reflect... This past year of being in the mid-twenties was amazing. As many fear getting older, the wisdom that comes as you continuously seek growth is priceless and I wouldn't trade it. Of course no one looks forward to more anti aging creams and more days at the gym, but I do look forward to a purposeful life, deeper relationships and more inner peace.

Thank you for supporting independent fashion.. this journey has been amazing. Look forward to spending 2011 with you... love, Jacqueline
